Ms. Deala Tranice Mathews, of Vauxhall, New Jersey was born on July 28, 1963 to Walter E. Mathews Sr. & Marie (Mayo) Mathews.  She was known by her loved ones as "Momma Dukes".  She passed on July 13, 2018 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Momma Dukes matriculated from Brookdale Community College to attend Seton Hall Law to obtain her J.D.  Momma Dukes held administrative positions until retiring in 2012. She leaves her only child, Gregory Mathews and his wife D'Andrea.  Through Gregory Deala has 8 grandchildren: Anyiah, Yusuf, Khadijah, A'iesha, Ya'Qub, Maryam, Eesa, and A'siyah.  She leaves her brothers: Tyrone Mayo, Walter Mathews Jr., and Robert Wright and sister, Robin Rosser. Deala loved her family and grandchildren, and would spend countless hours enjoying them.  She loved animals and was an avid collector of classic music. Deala was an advocate for many and a surrogate mother or Aunt for many more.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Friends and family members may attend the Janazah (Funeral) on Wednesday, July 18 from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Islamic Burial Services, 279 Roseville Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
