It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dawn Mcelwee, who was born on September 9, 1975 and passed away on June 9, 2026 in Newark, Delaware. She is survived by her loving spouse Percy, and their five children Jovan, Jahleel, Jiyon, Percy, and Jahfiq.

Dawn was a devoted mother, wife, and preschool teacher who dedicated her life to helping others. She also volunteered at homeless shelters, making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Her caring and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her.

She had a passion for reading, visiting coffee shops, and attending her children's sports events. Dawn's love for her family and community was unwavering, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Unfortunately, Dawn lost her battle with cancer, but her spirit and legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. Our hearts are heavy with grief, but we take solace in knowing that she is now at peace.
