David L. Vanderwarn1934 - 2015David L. Vanderwarn, 81, of Kenosha passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at his home with his loving family by his side. David was born on July 2, 1934, in Racine to Earl and Elsie (Troestler) Vanderwarn. He graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Racine in 1954 and he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served from 1954 until his retirement in 1976 and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. David married Yvonne "Bonnie" West on June 6, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in Racine. He began his second career with Kenosha Beef in 1976 as Director of Personnel until his retirement on Aug. 29, 1997. David was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Mary's Men's group and the Knights of Columbus Council # 14362. He also served as the past Commander of American Legion Post #21. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the many activities nature had to offer. David's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends.He was preceded in death by, his parents; and his sister, Lorraine Vignieri.David is survived by, his wife of 59 years, Bonnie of Kenosha; four children, Brian (Margaret) Vanderwarn, Cathy Kuhl, Christy (Mark) Freeman and Edward (Juli) Vanderwarn; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Strandt and Lynn (Bob) Landsberg as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.A Mass of Christian Burial for David will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (7307 – 40th Avenue). Burial will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
