Darnell Shippy, aged 73, of Middleton, Idaho, passed away on May 22, 2024.
Born on July 7, 1950, in Boise ID, to Pat and Pam Davis. Darnell married John Shippy in 1969 and they raised four children together - Mathew Shippy with spouse Megan Shippy, Heather Seilhamer with spouse Dennis Seilhamer, Nathan Shippy with spouse Taryn Shippy, and Ty Shippy with spouse Veronica Shippy.
Darnell led a remarkable life filled with dedication and love. She was a passionate educator who taught math and science at Center Middle School in Manhattan Beach, CA. Known for her commitment to her students, Darnell would often arrive early and stay late to ensure they received the best education possible. Her hard work and caring nature extended beyond the classroom, where she also served as an Assistant Principal.
After retiring, Darnell and her late husband John traveled the world, exploring different cultures and experiencing new adventures together. From Alaska to Africa, and from Bora-Bora to Bellevue, they embraced life to the fullest. They later Returned to Idaho where she became a member of the Followers of Christ Church.
Darnell Darnell is survived by her 4 children Mathew Shippy, Heather Seilhamer, Nathan Shippy, and Ty Shippy, 8 grandchildren, Chelsah Cain, Mariah Milburn, Logan Seilhamer, Paige Nelly, Mathew Shippy, Carl Shippy, Shannon Shippy, and Savanah Reiner and her 12 great-grandchildren. Nevaeh, James, Roy, Anthony, Kaedence, Addisyn, Kian, Arlow, Serenity, Lucas, Aidan, and Graycen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Shippy and her parents Pat and Pam Davis.
Services to celebrate Darnell's life will be held on Saturday, June 15th, at Lake Cascade, Cascade Idaho, allowing time for family to travel. The ceremony will include a spreading of ashes and a celebration of her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to plant a tree, the Red Cross, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Darnell Shippy.
The Followers of Christ Church is assisting the family with the arrangements.
