We are saddened to announce the passing of Darla Hummelgaard, who was born on August 12, 1956, in Chandler Arizona to her loving parents Donald and Madonna Wilkerson.
She married the love of her life, Randy Lee Hummelgaard, in 1978, and together they raised two wonderful children, Holly Dawn Hummelgaard and Randy Lee Hummelgaard. Randy and Kathryn Hummelgaard, her son and daughter-in-law, she had five beautiful grandchildren. Hailey Driggs, Abby Moe, Adain Hummelgaard, Lacie Demaria, and Emily Hummelgaard.
Darla was a mother to so many of her children's friends, her love, kindness and generosity so freely given to everyone that she loved
Darla attended Chandler Arizona High School and went on to have a successful career at Fedex, where she eventually retired in 2022.
Despite the sadness of her passing, Darla will be remembered for her infectious laughter, kind heart, and love for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She always learned to watch for us anxious if we were late
in Winter by the window and some are by the gate
and then we mocked her tenderly who had such foolish care
the Long Way Home would seem more safe because she waited there
her thoughts were also full of us she never could forget
and so I think where she is she must be watching yet
waiting till we come home to her anxious if we are late
watching from Heaven's window leaning on heavens gate...
Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
