A lifetime ago, I asked Darcel "do you know of any new/good Jazz music 🎶 She referenced several artist. And, one that really stuck out was, Peter White (which I'm listening to, NOW). Yes, as Im feeling so nostalgic, I decided to look Darcel up. Only to find out that she's transitioned. 😔🙏 And, my heart is quite heavy. Need I say that Darcel's obituary was/is so spot on! SHE loved music 🎶🎵 -- &, had quite a diverse knowledge of such. I also recall her telling me that she once sang as a back-up singer for Hall & Oates (Blue Eyed Soul). 😃 Un4tunately, I missed the privilege of telling Darcel how impressionable she was to me. 20+ years ago, we worked 2getha at a Washington, DC law firm. She nurtured me thru the loss of my husband, and mother. And, the 1 thing I vividly recall was her absolute love for "the boys" -- they were the joy of her life! And, their education was paramount to her. TODAY, I encourage anyone who might be reading THIS note, to "live" each day to the fullest. Do not just exist, and go thru the motions of life. Take risk & be vunerable. Have no regrets. Daily, tell family & friends that you love them. Tho I missed my chance to catch up with Darcel, rest assured, SHE was valued, remembered fondly and made quite an impact on the lives of others. At some point in time, likely "we will meet again." (a song WE loved by Oleta Adams. Also note: John 5:28, 29) Conclusively, dearest "boys" (Nabil & Theodore) now that you are grown men, continue to keep Darcel's light shining ever so bright via the living your best lives. A life well lived
Darcel Eliza Whitted had transitioned to God's kingdom on December 7th 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, PA March 10th 1955 she was a child to Royal Gental Green Whitted and Bessie Whitted, also a sibling to Betram Whitted. In her earlier years she attended Taylor Allderdice High School and graduated later and proceeded her education at Morris Brown University as a Music major. She loved music and sung in the church choir alongside Shirley Caesar in her youth; that very passion translated into her, becoming a pianist, and traveling the world to later becoming a music school teacher in Atlanta GA. She would later give birth to her children Nabil and Theodore. Her love for her family was very evident as she did her absolute best to make sure her sons had the best upbringing.
Darcel was a woman who loved cooking and animals especially dogs, she referred to her pet dogs as her babies,( Mickey, Bubba, RA, Celo,Jasper and Kobe). Darcel had a unavailable sense of empathy towards everyone she came across to family, friends, and even coworkers. When it was set in done she ended becoming a 2nd mother for many as well as a sister and aunt. Her love for the lord showed unwavering faith Hebrews 10:23 (holding fast without wavering), this became a testament and a example of her true love for Christ as she battled cancer. Her spirit never changed. Her lives on through her two son and five grandchildren.
