Daniel “Danny” James Hampton of New Orleans, LA, age 57, was called home on October 24, 2024. Born on January 30th, 1967, to the late Jacqueline and Richard Hampton, Danny perfectly embodied what it means to be a native New Orleanian. Danny was known for his larger-than-life heart, love for good cuisine, good music, and, most importantly, a good time. He attended Lake Castle Elementary School and graduated with the 1985 class of Brother Martin High School. Danny served his city as a dispatcher for the New Orleans Levee Board and for 13 years with the New Orleans Fire Department. He took much pride in his 30-year stint as a stagehand with I.A.T.S.E Local 39 and 20 years building the “Danny Do Right” Landscaping company. In partial retirement, Danny spent his days with his surviving daughters and grandchildren, Amber, Danielle, James, and Josephine. He shared his earned wisdom, infectious sense of humor, and a legacy of unconditional love. He will be remembered by his remaining family, siblings: Richard Hampton Jr. (Karen), Terrel Hampton Sr. (Marian), Gail Reuther (Robert), Vickie Eagle (Steven), Darlene Elmer (Paul), dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. For the first time in Danny’s life, he was not running late. Instead, he was met with death far too early. His family and friends will miss him dearly but take comfort in knowing his life measures well.
“Life is not measured by the amount of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away. ” -Maya Angelou.
