Daniel E. Hill, affectionately known as Dan, passed away on December 2, 2024, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on March 10, 1946, Dan was a cherished resident of Milan, Indiana, and lived a full and vibrant life until the age of 78.
Dan was the beloved husband of Pat Hill, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his sister, Linda McElfresh (Jim), and brother, Charlie Hill (Donna). His legacy continues through his children, Jonathan Martin (Tina), Richard Hill (Christinea), and Brandi Gartley, as well as his numerous grandchildren: Jonathan Martin, Amber Ferman (Cory), Brittany Billingsley, Samantha Baston, Brianna Baston, Cameron Dee, Steven Marksberry (Shelby), Kristina Marksberry, Justin Hill, Greg Campbell, Mikayla Campbell, and Cierra Kocik.
Dan was also blessed with great-grandchildren Carly, Liam, Mariah, Keaton, Alexa, Lamar, Carter, Everleigh, and Emilia.
Dan proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1988, retiring as an E8 Senior Chief. A Vietnam veteran, he was an accomplished aviation engineer who traveled the world and earned numerous decorations for his service. Following his military career, Dan dedicated 20 years to aviation maintenance with DHL/A Star before retiring to enjoy his passions for bowling, solitaire, family gatherings, traveling, and being a golfaholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie Brown and Charles Hill, grandchildren Zachary and Kasey, great-grandchild Joshua, and son-in-law Robert Gartley.
Dan will be forever loved and dearly missed by all who knew him. His life was a testament to dedication, love, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends.
Celebration of life for Dan Hill will be at the Milan Legion in Milan, Indiana Wednesday December 11, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm
Visitation 4:00pm-6:00pm with a memorial at 6:30pm including military honors and the crown royal toast to follow.
