Eckstein, Cynthia "Cindy" SueCynthia "Cindy" Sue Eckstein, age 62, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 21, 2017, surrounded by the love of her family. Cindy was born on October 24, 1954, to the late Wallace and Edith (Metzig) Nelson. She was baptized on November 14, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. She was confirmed on March 30, 1969, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne. Cindy grew up in Winneconne and was a graduate of Winneconne High School. She graduated from Fox Valley Technical College and began her career as a licensed practical nurse. Cindy married her high school sweetheart, Cary Eckstein, on June 12, 1976, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. For 41 years, Cindy worked as a nurse, with 35 of those years at Juliette Manor in Berlin. Her compassionate personality showed throughout her connections with the residents and their families. Upon retirement, Cindy enjoyed volunteering at the new Juliette Manor location with her caring work family. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin for many years until recently joining Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin. Cindy's greatest joy in her life was her family. She cherished being a part of her children's and grandchildren's activities. Cindy took pleasure in traveling with her family and time spent at the cabin. She was a member of the Giles-Luce American Legion Post 364 Auxiliary. Cindy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Cary, of Berlin; three children, Carissa (Jeremy) Fritz, of Berlin; Catie (Chad) Emerson, of Evansville; Craig (Megan) Eckstein, of Berlin; grandchildren, Kaden, Kara, and Caelyn Fritz; Ashlyn, Ethan, and Aisley Emerson; brothers, Gary (Sandy) Nelson, of Winneconne; Douglas Nelson (Mary Selle), of Winneconne; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arden and Dorothy Eckstein, of Larsen; brother-in-law, Scott Eckstein, of Larsen; nieces and nephews, Gail (Marcus) Klaeser and family, Eric (Katina) Nelson, Kristen (Andy) Woods and family, Cody Nelson (special friend, Allie) and family, Kevin Eckstein, Hailey Eckstein, and Dillon Eckstein. She is further survived by many dear friends, co-workers, and long-time neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; and special neighbor, Dorothy Sobieski. A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 27 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 384 Oak St. Berlin. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Scott T. Piper officiating. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery, town of Clayton. Cindy's family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Gremminger and the staff of Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology as well as the Agnesian Hospice Hope staff for all the loving care they provided.
