Crystal (Boyd) Wendland, 61, of Oscoda passed away peacefully in Saginaw's Covenant Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 following a heart attack and stroke suffered on Dec. 21.Crystal was born on Feb. 1, 1952 in Aledo, Ill. and was the third daughter of Frances M. Keyes and the late Rev. William H. Boyd. She graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School and attended Macomb Community College. She worked at US Pumps and Motors in Troy before marrying Dennis Wendland in 1988. They were members of the Detroit Power Squadron in Detroit where she served on the Bridge. They relocated to Oscoda in 1993 where she worked at American International Airways (AIA) and at the Eagles. She also volunteered with her husband at the American Legion Post in Oscoda. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Quirky Quilters Society. She loved cooking, gardening and all of nature's beauty. Her generous loving spirit will be sadly missed by all who knew her.She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her step-son, Ronnie (Lincoln Park), and his two boys, Zane and Bowen; her mother, Frances Keyes of Grosse Pointe and Traverse City); and two sisters, Sheryl Langdon of Traverse City and Susan Boyd of Farmington Hills. She was predeceased by her step-son, Dennis Jr.; and her father.A memorial service will be held in the spring when her garden is in bloom.
