Crystal A. RuppVentura, CACrystal was born on June 25, 1923 to Albert and Crystal Luenberger Priester in Burbank, CA. She was the 3rd of 5 children. She met her future husband, Allen Rupp, while he was stationed in Burbank, serving in the Army Air Corps. They married in 1947 at Hollywood Lutheran Church. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Allen's hometown of Detroit to begin their family. They were blessed with seven children of their own and they also fostered many more newborns and toddlers. She worked as a teller, and later, as a bookkeeper at the National Bank of Detroit. After 30 years in Detroit they returned to the place they fell in love, and Crystal's home state of California. For the next 27 years they resided in Oxnard, CA. Crystal worked at Bank of A. Levy for 1 1 years until she retired in 1989. She enjoyed volunteering at the Crisis Pregnancy Center and in the tutoring program at her church. She was a member of AGLOW. In 2005, they moved to Santa Paula, where they lived until Allen's death in 2013. Crystal lived the rest of her life in Ventura, CA, cared for by her children as she wished, until she died peacefully in her sleep.Six children, Karen (Paul) Muller, Frederick (Lynn), Adele (Jim) Kirtley, Russell, Laura Rupp-Gyori, and Janeen (Bill Shook), survive Crystal. She was the grandmother of 16 and the great-grandmother of9. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Frank) Gift, two brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary Lou) Rupp and Edward Rupp, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband, Allen, her parents, brothers Frederick and Albert Priester, sister Clarabelle Maltby, son Douglas, and grandson Steven preceded her in death.There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 pm on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Ventura First Assembly of God Church, 346 N. Kimball Road, Ventura, CA 93004. A light luncheon will follow the service.
