Corey Grant Elder was a man of few words. However, what was lacking in words was counterpoised in courage and character. Corey passed peacefully at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, on November 21, 2024, embraced by his loving family after patiently suffering a long illness. He was born May 3, 1970, to Cynthia Breeden in Lumberton, North Carolina, with whom he shared a mutual adoration.

Corey met his Heavenly Father and joined his earthly father, William Breeden, who preceded him in death. Waiting impatiently on Corey was also his best friend, Rosie Elder, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently, and Corey missed deeply.

Corey began his career in the United States Army at 18 and served from 1988 until 1998. Corey served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, working as a Sapper in Special Operations, proudly dedicating himself to serving his country. Upon his retirement, Corey worked as a logistics Specialist at Caesarstone Technologies USA Inc. and in Materials Management at Effingham Health System until his illness made it impossible for him to continue working.

During the fall, Corey could be found in his den dressed in red and black, cheering on the Georgia DAWGS surrounded by snacks. Even if they were never eaten, he was tailgating for good luck in his “man cave.” He also loved all teams in North Carolina, especially the Panthers.

The lights of his life will deeply miss Corey: his wife of almost 30 years, Marie Elder, his daughter Sienna Marie Elder, his son Trey Burke, and Miranda Robards. Also grieving the loss of Corey are his adoring Mother, Cynthia Breeden, his brother Christopher Breeden (Eugenia), his sister Monica Nicole Breeden, and his cousins Dorothy Jean Unce and James “Tank” Leggett Jr. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, and other close relatives and friends.
