Comella S. Reynoldsformerly of Chelmsford, MA Died after a three-year journey with pancreatic cancer on February 8, 2017 at the age of 85 at The Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.She was born on February 22, 1931 in East Alton, IL. She was the daughter of Charles and Comella Smith who raised her along with four brothers on their family's farm. The single most important person and influence in her life was her mother. She ensured that Cassie had the opportunity to get a college education, an opportunity that was not widely available to many young women growing up in rural America at the time. She graduated from Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, VA. Her life was full of adventures that took her to Brooklyn, NY; Naperville, IL; and eventually to Chelmsford, MA where she raised her two adopted children. She was a former member of All Saints Episcopal Church and Vesper Country Club for more than 40 years. She developed many lifelong friendships during her time being of service to others and playing golf. Cassie spent many of her final years in Hernando, FL enjoying a life of playing bridge and golf, reading, watching Jeopardy and traveling. She enjoyed a particularly adventurous three-month trip to Australia and New Zealand on a cargo ship. Her brothers Newt, Richard, and George predeceased her. She is survived by her brother, Spencer Smith, of East Alton, IL. She also leaves behind two sons, Brian of Nashua, NH and Jason of Chelmsford. In addition she leaves her daughter-in-law, Trish, who was truly the daughter she always wanted and with whom she shared a very special bond. She also leaves her granddaughters, Julia and Caroline, whom she had immense pride in. Our family would like to thank the staff at Home Instead as well as the Community Hospice House who provided such compassionate care and friendship to our Mom.
