CLARENCE 'BUNKY' MEASE JR., 75 FREEPORT - Clarence "Bunky" Mease Jr., 75, of Freeport, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born on December 10, 1937, in Princeton, IL, the son of Clarence and Mavis (Holly) Mease Sr. Clarence married DeeAnn Holsinger on June 12, 1965, in Freeport, IL. Clarence graduated from Freeport High School in 1956. From there he worked at First McNess before serving his country in the Army from 1960-1963. He then worked at Bankers Mutual/Trustmark as a data processer where he retired; after he retired he worked for Farm & Fleet and drove a truck for Progressive Molds. Clarence was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where he was a past Sunday School teacher. He was an active member and treasurer of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club and the Northwest Illinois Deer Collectors Club. He was very active in the Silver Creek Steam Train Depot. He was also a board member of Gathering of the Green which had to do with John Deere. Clarence enjoyed camping and traveling with his family while his kids were growing up; he also enjoyed traveling to Florida via train to visit his son and family. He enjoyed feeding and observing wildlife. He had a special little kitty friend named Peanut whom he was very protective of. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandog Casper, and above all he loved anything John Deere and his John Deere friends. Surviving Clarence in death is his wife, DeeAnn Mease of Freeport, IL; his daughter, Renee (Scott) Engelkens of Freeport, IL; his son, Randy (Erin) Mease of Orlando, FL; his brother, Jon Mease; three sisters, Mary (Del) Veach, Gwen (Mike) Fortner, and Martha Mease; his brother-in-law, Denny Holsinger; his granddaughter, Josey Mease; and many nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nellie Fischer. Funeral services for Clarence will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church in Freeport, with Rev. John Lee officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery.
