Clarence E. "Sonny" ChiltonMr. Clarence Eugene "Sonny" Chilton, age 73, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at home where he recently moved to from his long time residence in Bois D'Arc, Missouri. He was born on August 30, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Arvill Ray and Leota Marguerite (Lewis) Chilton. During his teens Sonny's family lived on the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, in Republic, Missouri, and was a member of the Wilson's Creek Rebels as an Artillery Sergeant. He owned and used his replica Civil War cannon during the 100th reenactment of the Battle of Wilson's Creek, on the sacred grounds of "Bloody Hill," August 10, 1960.Sonny also proudly served his country in the United States Army, worked 21 years at Paul Mueller, 20 years at Precision Stainless, and six years at Holloway America.Sonny was a great husband, loving father, wonderful brother, active grandfather, and proud great-grandfather.His parents; first wife, Sherry McDermott; and son-in-law, Craig Richardson preceded him in death.He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Yoshiko (Uehara) Chilton of the home; his daughter, Laurie (Chilton) Richardson of Springfield; two brothers and their wives, Dan and Sandy Chilton of Billings, and Larry and Liz Chilton of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two sisters and their husbands, Diane and Jerry Benson, Rogersville, and Barbara and Bill Schulenberg of Oregon City, Oregon; two grandsons, Jake and Kiersten Richardson and Josh Richardson all of Springfield; and two great-granddaughters, Parker and Taylor Richardson.A visitation will be held from 10 to 12 noon on Monday, January 23, 2017 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with graveside services following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. in Fasken Cemetery, Carthage, with Rev. Farley Lewis officiating, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home.
