Campbell, Claire Irene (Bright),Claire Irene (Bright) Campbell, 85, of Prospect, Kentucky passed away on May 29, 2017. She was a retired adolescent psychiatric nurse from Norton's Hospital and a member of Westport Road Baptist Church. Irene was born on August 14, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Viola Steadman Head and Steve Bright. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Dr. Edward Merill Campbell. Irene was a skilled nurse and highly regarded in her field even though she started her career later in life. She was incredibly smart and hard-working, but was better known for her strength of character and generous nature. Irene also had a fantastic sense of humor and was quite the story-teller. As the beloved matriarch of the large Campbell clan, she inspired us all with her tenacity, candor, and commitment to family. She will be deeply missed. Irene is survived by her four loving children; Timothy Merill Campbell (Laurie), Bonnie Lynn Campbell, Jeffrey Alan Campbell (Kathy) and Julie Campbell Isham. Her surviving grandchildren are Rebecah Miller (Paul), Jay Campbell, Ashley Louis (Fritz), John-Michael Reitz, Katie Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Mercedes Isham (Kendra), and Jesse Isham. She was a doting great-grandmother to 6 children; Madeline, Matthew, Maya, Macey, Trey, and Jane. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, with a celebration of Irene's life at 2pm. Burial will follow in Floydsburg Cemetery.
