Mr. Chris Eric Larsen age 92 years, a life long resident of Thunder Bay, and in the past year Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at the Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital in Halifax, on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Chris was born on November 9, 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario and grew up in Pass Lake. Chris was a WWII veteran serving as a gunner in the Royal Canadian Artillery. Chris married Frances Ellen Elizabeth Betty Skippen on May 24, 1946 and celebrated 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife. He was a dedicated employee and Manager with the LCBO for over 35 years. Chris enjoyed life immensely both pre retirement and for 35 years post retirement. He loved to travel and wintered for many years in Brownsville, Texas. Chris was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Chris is survived by his sister Lillian Jacobson, son Robert Larsen (Lorna) and their sons, Kristian (Lindsay - great grandsons Caiden and Charlie), and Andrew, son James Larsen (Katie) and former wife Sharon and their son Scott, son David Larsen (Patti) and their children Catherine and Samuel, daughter Carolyn Anderson (Ross) and their sons Lars (Elisa) and Dayne, brother-in-law Robert Skippen (Betty) and nieces and nephews (Herb, Laura, Geraldine, Arnie, Frank, Susan, Gina Lynn, Lee Anne, MaryLynne). Chris was predeceased by his wife Betty, his granddaughter Shanna, parents Kristian and Kristine Larsen (nee Ottosen), brother Otto, mother and father-in-law, Alma and Harold Skippen, sister -in-law Joyce (Arnold) Todd and brother-in-law Herb Jacobson.Thanks to Dr. Rafilovich and her staff at St. Joseph's Care Group and Superior Elder Care for all they do to improve the quality of life for their geriatric patients. Thanks to Dr. Wiebe and the incredible staff of the 5 West Garrison Wing at the Camp Hill Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for their outstanding care that provided Chris with a great last year of life and new friendships with other veterans. Thanks to Veteran Affairs and The War Amps of Canada for their support during his life.There will be an interment for Chris to join Betty and Celebration of Life for family and friends in August, 2017 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. In lieu of flowers a charitable donation can be made to Team Shan Breast Cancer Awareness for Young Women (www.teamshan.ca), The War Amps of Canada (www.waramps.ca) or a charity of your choice.
