Wojtalewicz, ChesterChester Steven Wojtalewicz, age 93, of Stevens Point passed away on November 9, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Heartland Hospice.Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, November 11, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. A general rosary will be prayed for Chester at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 -10:45 AM on Saturday, November 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Gregory Michaud. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Chester, or "Chet," as many called him, was born on December 22, 1922 in the Town of Sharon, the son of Joseph and Catherine (née Wisnewski) Wojtalewicz. After attending local schools, he began working at Consolidated paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids, later for the railroad, and also did various construction work. He married Lorraine "Florence" Wrycha on November 18, 1944 at St. Mary's Church - Torun. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Dewey until their retirement in 1986. Chester enjoyed playing cards, gardening, hunting, visiting family and friends, and traveling with his wife. In the fall, he helped Florence gather sprigs of princess pine in the woods and assisted her in making Christmas wreaths. He was a devout Catholic and member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society. He contributed to many charities and often thought about helping others in need.He is survived by 12 children: Dennis (Jeanette) Wojtalewicz, Leroy (Faye) Wojtalewicz, Dorothy (Len) Wisinski, Eugene (Tina) Wojtalewicz, Barb (Fred) Lepak, Kathy (Chris) Tessen, Donna (Walt) Adamic, Mike (Carmen) Wojtalewicz, Roger (Karen) Wojtalewicz, Diane (Steve Roberts) Rossin, Lori (Bob) Schultz, and Jim (Tammy) Wojtalewicz. He is further survived by 41 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, one brother, Emil (Angeline) Wojtalewicz, and one sister, Theresa (Edward) Losinski. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers (Roman, Joseph Jr., Ben, Edwin, and Emerick Wojtalewicz) and six sisters (Teckla Hoffman, Emma Ostrowski, Regina Janiszewski, Alvina Marchel, Stella Cychosz, and an infant sister). In addition, Chester was preceded in death by two sons, Ron and Paul, and by his wife, Florence, who passed away on November 18, 2015, the couple's 71st wedding anniversary.Chester's family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Karen and Laura, for their compassionate care over the past few weeks.Online condolences may be sent by visiting
