Cheryl Louise (Johns) Staelens 1959-2015HILLSDALE - Cheryl Louise (Johns) Staelens, of Pittsford, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Cheryl passed from her earthly home to Heavens' gates surrounded by family and country music.She was born on November 24, 1959 in Tecumseh, Michigan to Charlotte and Roy Johns. She was employed at Hi Lex Controls in Litchfield, Michigan.A hard working and independent woman, known lovingly as "Cheri" by those that knew her best. She loved country music and her precious canines. Cheri held to the ideal that "If you were a lover of dogs, then you must be a good person." She loved to spend time in her beautiful yard, tending her many flowers and fruit trees. She always looked forward to her Tuesday night, "Date Night" with her boyfriend.Mother, Sister, Grandma, Girlfriend, and friend to many. Her infectious smile, and tell it like it is attitude will be greatly missed by those that loved her.Loved ones remaining are her boyfriend, Vandardis Black, Pittsford, MI; daughters, Helen Cole, Pittsford, MI and Erica (Mark) McCarty, Hillsdale, MI; sons, Billy Lovelady, Quincy, MI, Terry Lovelady, Jr., Geneva, IN; sisters, Rene' (Sean) Spahr, Hillsdale, MI, Pat (Bob) Becker, Canton, OH, Linda Foust, Naples, FL; brothers, Cory Marsh, Cement City, MI, Michael Johns, Ypsilanti, MI, Dale Johns, Naples, FL; grandchildren, Ellery (Roger) Watts, Eden Carlisle, Tara Koch, Addison Mosley; great grandchildren, Malyk Carlisle and Nolan Watts; and special friend, David Staelens. She was preceded in death by her parents.A funeral service to honor Cheri's life will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Monday, November 16, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m, with Dr. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, November 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Hillsdale Humane Society.
