Cheri Jones Maddux Weeks, a radiant soul of 77, from Hearne, Texas, departed this world on September 17, 2023. Born on April 16, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Osmond T. and Katherine Jones.
Cheri's heartbeat was her family. She built a foundation of love and support for her boys, often taking on multiple roles to ensure their happiness. As time unfolded, she cherished her role as 'Nana', creating unforgettable memories with her beloved grandchildren on ‘Nana Days’.
To many in Hearne, Cheri was the ever-smiling face managing the Golden Fried Chicken. Some attended dance lessons under her guidance at the Sons of Hermann, where she not only taught dance for numerous years but also took on leadership as the President of the board for a year. Her love for teaching dance extended beyond Hearne and her loving grandchildren, reaching many towns and touching countless lives. Still others knew her from her time at JCPenney where she not only worked but also loved to shop for her grandkids and family. She also enjoyed spending worship time at her church with her friends and serving on their board.
Her husband, Angelo, would often find her late into the night working on her favorite hobby of ancestry. She was a proud member of The Daughters of the Revolution (DAR). In her retirement, after David White Insurance, Cheri's days were filled with gardening, bird-watching, and especially relishing time with her expanding family and circle of friends. She was also a beacon of support in the community, offering her services at Call for Help and lovingly styling hair at the local nursing home.
Cheri was welcomed into Heaven by those who predeceased her including her loving husband, Angelo Weeks, her parents, Osmond T. Jones and Katherine Taggart, and her dear son Matthew Maddux.
Embracing her legacy and warmth here are her sisters Mary Wiley, Sue Carr and husband Kenny, half-brother Osmond Jones, her sons David Vinson and wife Gerry, Will Maddux, along with bonus sons Leo Weeks and wife Jamie, Chris Weeks and wife Juliette.
Grandchildren Amber, Cayce, Kandice, Matthew, Alexis, Allison, Christina, and Chyenne, as well as bonus grandchildren Brittney, Chris, and Katherine. 17 great-grandchildren and a host of, relatives, and friends who will hold her close in their memories.
The family expresses profound gratitude to the teams at Baylor Scott & White and the Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas for her care. To the Jerry Jones Hope Lodge and the Twice Blessed House for providing lodging for her and her family during her illness. We appreciate Dr. J. Covington and the staff at Baylor Scott & White, College Station, and the Brazos Valley Hospice for being so kind and compassionate during some of the toughest times.
