Charles B. Spann1940 - 2016Charles B. Spann, 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Zion, Ill. He was born on October 31, 1940, to Levi and Rosie (Taylor) Spann. He attended West Helena High School. Charles worked as an mechanic at Case in Racine and as a welder for Lavin & Sons in North Chicago. Charles married Mozella Mitchell on April 18, 1980. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, welding, and reading.He is survived by his wife, Mozella Spann; his children, Kylis House, David Hatch, and one other child Brianna Thomas; his grandchildren, Deontae and Dajion House; his brothers, Levi (Betty) Spann, Jr. of Star City, Ind., Cornelious (Delores) Spann of Kansas City, Kan., Robert "Bob" Spann of Kenosha, Freddie (Carolyn) Spann of Helena, Ark.; his sisters, Charity Cooks of Kenosha, Annie (William) Moore of Helena, Ark., Henrine Joyner of DeWitt, Ark., Christine (Peter) Supal of Racine, and Mariah (William) Buchanan of Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.Charles was preceded in death by his father, Levi Spann, and his brother, Eddie Spann, Sr.A memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, at Coleman Chapel AME Church at 4 p.m. Repast will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
