Charles F. Neruda, Sr.GlennieCharles F. Neruda, Sr., age 88, of Glennie, MI, formerly of Port Huron, passed away on March 12, 2017 at his home. He was born on March 3, 1929 in Ferndale, MI to the late Frank and Hermine (Zabel) Neruda. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Port Huron Police Department after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Lott Baptist Church in Glennie, American Legion, Shriners Club, Glennie Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Police and the Port Huron Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating. He loved spending time with his family. Charles served in the U.S. Navy in the North Atlantic.Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Letha M. Neruda of Glennie; children, Charles (Wendy) Neruda, Jr. of Port Huron, MI, Franz Neruda of Clyde Township, MI, Jeri Lynn (Michael) Hart of Lewiston, MI; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Karr of Utah; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Alfred Neruda.Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the Buresh Funeral Home, 121 S. Washington, Hale, MI 48739. Services will be held at the Lott Baptist Church at 4257 State Road in Glennie on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 12 noon with Pastor Elmer Ash officiating.
