Charles L. Zimmerman, 86 of Brookville died Friday, Jan 9, 2015 at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.He was born on May 24, 1929 in Punxsutawney, PA, the son of the late Charles D. and Regina (Lynn) Zimmerman.Mr. Zimmerman worked for and was a supervisor for Square D Electrical Equipment of Oldsmar, Fl until his retirement. Charles was a US Navy Veteran and US Marine Corpsman and proudly served his nation from 1948 - 1952 to include participating in the Korean Conflict. His military decorations and awards include the Korean Service Medal with three stars, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Ribbon, and the US Navy Occupation Ribbon.Charles was married to Rosemary Zimmerman who preceded him in death on June 2, 2011.Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the American Legion in Brookville and enjoyed collecting stamps, traveling to Ireland, and sports. He is survived by three children: Two sons; and a step daughter, Donna and her husband James Taylor of Irwin, NY. He is preceded in death by one step son, Daniel Edwards and a nephew Tony Cook. He is also survived by one sister, Sally Cook of Brookville. Charles is survived by several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews: Mike and Jolynn Cook of Worthville; Rick and Pam Cook of Brookville; Gary Cook of Brookville; Steve Cook of FL.; Tim and Shelly Cook of N.C.; Lesa and Carl Defelice of Castleberry, Fl; Pat and Amy Hewitt of FL; and Julie and John Youngmark of State College. Charles was also known as "Uncle Bubbles" to his great nieces and nephews who also survive him.Mr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rosemary.Friends were received Sunday at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville. A funeral service was held immediately afterwards at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Ray Baker.Interment followed at Scotchtown Cemetery, Erin, New York.
