Charles E. Brodie, age 79, of Hale, formerly of Orchard Lake, passed away at his home with his family at his side on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016. He was born on Sept. 4, 1937 in Detroit to Charles and Reba (Edwards) Brodie. He was a retired supervisor with General Motors. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves being honorably discharged in 1964. On April 29, 1960 he married the former Wilma Richardson in Royal Oak. Charles was an amateur radio operator and belonged to the Amateur Radio Relay League and Iosco Skywarn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and Bible study. He was a member of Hale Assembly of God Church and he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Hale; son, Charles (Brenda) Brodie Jr., of Orchard Lake; daughter, Sheila (Paul) Nicholas of Hartland; grandchildren, Shaun Brodie, Charles (Nicole) Brodie, Jacob Brodie, Joshua (Trang) Brodie, Jessica (Drew) Walk, Benjamin Brodie, Rachel Nicholas, Daniel Nicholas and Rebecca Nicholas; and sister, Patricia (Jack) Low of West Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sons, Thomas, Edward and Kenneth.Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale. Services will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Herbersheimer officiating. Interment will be in Esmond-Evergreen Cemetery in Hale.
