Charles "Junior" Burgettformerly of AthensCharles "Junior" Burgett, 79, formerly of Athens, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Country Living AFC in Olivet.A celebration of Junior's life will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City with Pastor Sandy Gastian officiating. Interment will be at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, also at the Lighthouse.Junior was born on March 17, 1938 in Athens, MI to Charles and Olive (Parsons) Burgett. After graduating from Athens High School in 1956, Junior married the former Patricia Drake. She preceded him in death in 1987. In 1988, he married Uvena Rarick, who also preceded him in death (2003). Junior worked as a machine operator at Kellogg's of Battle Creek. He was a member of the Kellogg's 25-Year Club. For over 30 years, he was a volunteer firefighter with the Athens Township Fire Department. He was also a member of the Emergency Assist Radio Service Club and the Athens United Methodist Church. He was all about helping people. Junior enjoyed attending activities at the Athens
VFW Post #5319 with his first wife, who was an Auxiliary member. He enjoyed woodworking and putting puzzles together in his spare time. Left to mourn Junior's death are his son, Robert C. Burgett of Warner Robins, GA; his grandchildren, Michael Burgett of South Carolina and Brandi Bishop of Florida; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Hopkins, of Battle Creek; his brother, Donald (Patricia) Burgett of Homer; and his former daughter-in-law, Danyle Wellman, of Ohio.Junior was preceded in death by his parents; his wives Patricia and Uvena; his daughter, Barbara Whitney (2011); a son-in-law, David Whitney; and his siblings, Robert H. Burgett, Kenneth C. Burgett, Billie E. Burgett, Richard D. Burgett, Dortha Engler and Mildred
