Davenport, Florida mourns the loss of a beloved community member, Cassius Blue Sr., who peacefully passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 84. Cassius was born and raised in Fauquier County, Virginia, where he attended the local public schools before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1958. His time in the service shaped him, instilling in him a strong sense of discipline and adventure.

Upon completing his military service, Cassius made the State of New Jersey his home, where. he worked for Tenneco Chemicals for over 18 years. In 1988, he decided to pursue his dream of entrepreneurship and started his own courier business, a testament to his determination and ambition. In 1991, after the passing of his (then wife), Gloria Clary Blue, he returned to his hometown of Warrenton, VA, and obtained employment at Dulles Airport as a Transport Driver.

Cassius was a man of many passions. He was a die-hard Washington Commanders fan (formerly known as the Washington Redskins). He had admiration for fancy antique cars, music, and loved horse racing. Whether it was Pacers, Trotters, Steeplechase, or Flat Tract Racing, Cassius enjoyed the thrill and excitement of the sport. He found joy in the simple and extraordinary pleasures of life, leaving a lasting impression on those around him.

Cassius made a lasting impact on those around him with his humbleness and unwavering appreciation. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he cherished. His life was a testament to hard work, passion and perseverance.

Cassius is survived by his wife, Janice Acquit Blue, and their children Crystal "Koi" and Christopher Blue, Bealeton, VA. He leaves behind his daughters; Darlene Blue Gray, Manassas, VA, Patricia Blue Wright, Davenport FL, Jenal Blue Mickens (Mick), Fredericksburg, VA, and his sons; Cassius Gordon Blue Jr (Beth), Easton PA and Anthony "Tony" Sharp, Warrenton, VA. He also leaves behind his sister, Carrie Blue, Warrenton VA and brother Samuel Blue, Culpeper, VA all of whom have been sources of strength and support throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Blue, his father, Cassius Carter Blue, his sister, Parphenia McClung, his daughter, Lorraine Blue Mayo and his grandson, James Thomas, each of whom he dearly missed.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Cassius, Jakeem, Ricky, Ebony, Christopher, Jason, Robert, Brian, Ashley, Lauren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on October 4, 2024, at the Faith Christian Church & International Outreach Center, 6472 Duhollow Road, Warrenton, VA where family and friends are invited to pay their respects. Immediately following the memorial service, a military honors service will be held at the Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U S Avenue Culpeper, VA offering a opportunity for loved ones to honor his service and sacrifice while remembering his life.
