Gotham, CarsonCarson Gotham, age 82 of Holmen, WI died of complications of Dementia on July 20, 2017 in La Crosse, WI. Carson was born on July 23, 1934 to his late parents, Terry E. and Helen M. (Judd) Gotham in Chetek, WI. He attended UW-Superior where he earned his B.S. and M.Ed and later additionally a major in Computer Science from UW-La Crosse. He spent 2 years in the Army, testing Chemical and Radioactive fallout as a "soldier/scientist" in the South Pacific and Nevada. He was married on June 18, 1960 to Evalyn Hoerauf of Detroit, MI. They settled down and raised their family near West Salem, WI. Carson was an educator of math & physics for 25 years at several schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He spent years growing trees and berries and had a lifelong passion for hunting. He was instrumental in establishing the youth hockey program in West Salem. He was a life member of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, the West Salem Rod & Gun Club, and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Evalyn of 57 years; daughter Genelle of Savage, MN; son Steven (Karla) and their children Angela, Abigail, Andrew, and Aidan of Mendota Heights, MN; daughter Cindy (Garry) Schindler and their children Justin and Chance of Lewiston, MN; and son Edward (Theresa) and their children Alexis and Aaron of Onalaska, WI. In addition, he is survived by his sisters Mary Burroughs and Joyce Melby and her husband Neal Melby, sister-in-law Nancy Gotham and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Schmitt, his brother James Gotham, and an infant brother Clifford Gotham. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Mayo Clinic Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse. A memorial service will held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Onalaska American Legion hall with Reverend Stanford Larkin officiating. Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation on Sunday from 10:00 until the time of services.
