Carolyn A. SimpsonGRANVILLE: Age 73, OH, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born on June 21, 1944 in Williamsport, PA, to the late Arthur and Ethel (Deppe) Baer.Carolyn was raised in New Jersey and moved to Gambier, OH, at a young age. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School and received her Bachelorâ™s degree from Capital University. Carolyn also earned a Masterâ™s degree in Nursing from Kent State University. She was a nursing professor at Central Ohio Technical College for 35 years. She was one of the first 200 certified nursing educators in the nation. After retiring, Carolyn continued to teach as an Adjunct professor. She was a member of the Ohio and American Nursing Association and Knox and Licking County Nursing Association, acting as Past President and more recent, Treasurer. Carolyn was to be inducted as an honorary member of the OADN Academy for Associate Degree Nursing.Carolyn loved to make jelly, jams and canned food which she would share with her family. She loved attending all her children and grandchildren activities and she was so proud of everything they did.She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Simpson; children, John (Diana) Simpson, Carolyn Anne Simpson, Tom (Julie Faber) Simpson; grandchildren, Nicolas, Grace and Melody; a sister, Joan (Robert) Bunsey; brothers, Richard (Mary Francis) Baer, Daniel Baer, John Baer and Arthur (Janet) Baer; and numerous nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Rd. Mount Vernon, OH, 43050, where a funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
