Carol Niswander GoettlMANSFIELD: Carol Niswander Goettl, 86, of Mansfield passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at The Waterford. Carol was born on January 12, 1931 in Crestline, Ohio to Lloyd and Eva (Kempher) Niswander.Carol graduated Valedictorian from Crestline High School in 1949 and went on to attend Bowling Green State University. She married the love of her life, Donald A. Goettl on July 17, 1954. Carol taught at Galion High School for four years and John Simpson Middle School for nineteen years. Carol was very devoted to her home church, First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where is tirelessly volunteered her time and efforts. She will be fondly remembered for her "Joke of the Day," something that her friends came to expect daily. She was a member of Richland County Retired Teachers , Phi Upsilon Omicron, Home Economics Honorary, and was a former Cub Scouts and Girl Leader. Carol was very philanthropic with area organizations, and many benefited from her caring heart. She was known to be very gentle and loving and was loved by all.Carol is survived by her children, Lloyd P. Goettl of Eustis, FL, and Laura M. (Dr. Michael) Zande of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Taylor and Brennan Zande; and a sister, Lois Franklin of Port Clinton. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Goettl.The family will welcome friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 339 S. Trimble Rd. The funeral service will follow at 11am.
