Lewis, Carlton A.Carlton A. Lewis, age 89, of the township of Newton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his residence.Carl was born on April 27, 1928 in St. Paul, MN, son of the late Henry and Florence (Ahneman) Lewis. He graduated from high school in 1946, and then served in the U. S. Army from July of 1946 until December of 1947. Following his discharge, Carl attended and graduated from Luther College in Iowa. He later received his Master's Degree in History. Carl married the former Carol Phillips on June 29, 1956 in Pine Island, MN. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1958, where Carl took a teaching position at Lincoln High School, retiring in 1992. The couple moved to the town of Newton in 1975 and started Farfield Arabians. Carl loved classical music and animals. He was the primary caretaker of a teeming assortment of horses, dogs, cats, birds, and poultry.Carl is survived by his two children: Michele Lewis (Jim Hunter), Ham Lake, MN; Eric Lewis (Victor Olvera), Gurnee, IL; one brother: Henry Lewis, Jr., Mora, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Florence Lewis; his wife: Carol Lewis.Relatives and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc.
