It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlton Dozier, born on August 14, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He peacefully left this world on October 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Carlton, known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, was the beloved son of Walter Leonard and Annie Joyner-Dozier. He leaves behind a legacy of humor and kindness, along with his five children: Desmond, Christine, Derrick (with spouse Desiree), Dominique, and Dante. His eight grandchildren will always remember him with fondness.
Carlton attended Shortridge High School, graduating in 1967, before embarking on a career at Kroger where he worked diligently until his well-deserved retirement in 1990. In addition to his civilian career, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Sergeant First Class (E7).
When not working or serving his country, Carlton could be found indulging his passion for travel, exploring far-off destinations and immersing himself in new cultures. He was also a skilled card player, always ready for a friendly game with friends and family.
While we mourn his passing, we find comfort in the memories of Carlton's laughter and love. His absence leaves a void in our hearts, but we know he is now at peace. Farewell, dear friend, until we meet again.
