Jul 26, 1967 - Oct 27, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Brian Henry Hobart, 47, of Traverse City, formerly of Oscoda, passed away very unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at his home as the result of a cardiac event. Brian was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1967 to Carol Marie (Mochty) and Wesley Arthur Hobart in Wilber. Following his graduation from high school, he earned an economics degree from Ferris State University and also his graduate jeweler and gemology degrees from Gemological Institute of America. Brian owned and operated B.H. Hobart Jewelers at Grand Traverse Mall. On Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, Brian married the love of his life, Sarah Fasel, in a ceremony at Mayfield Chapel with Pastor Glen Walters officiating. They were blessed with two children, Case and Lillian. Brian was a loving and supporting husband, an awesome dad, son, brother and friend to many. He would give you the shirt off his back, go to bat for you and once he got to know you, he was a friend beyond measure. Brian had a great sense of humor, loved to collect Lionel trains, was an avid Roseville collector, and knowledgeable Civil War enthusiast. He also had a passion for fly fishing the AuSable River. In addition to his wife and children, Brian is survived by his mom, Carol Hobart of Oscoda; brothers, William Hobart of Oscoda and Eugene Hobart of Wilber; his nephew and niece, Justin Hobart of Traverse City and Kayla Hobart (Brandon McCausey) and their son, Tanner McCausey of Essexville; his ex-wife, Jackie Hobart of Traverse City; his mother and father-in-law, Lisa and Randy Plamondon of Traverse City; his brothers-in-law, Brandon (Kristin) Plamondon, Benjamin Fasel, Bryan (Samantha) Plamondon, Samuel Plamondon, Adam Fasel and Eric Fasel, all of Traverse City; sister-in-law, Emily Fasel of Bay City; several nieces and nephews; Sarah's grandparents, David and Valerie Winans of Traverse City and Sarah's biological father, Robert Fasel of Traverse City; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Wesley Hobart; and his grandparents, Al and Nora Mochty Sr. and Hank and Leota Hobart. Cremation has taken place and his family will welcome friends at the Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. A celebration of his life will be held at noon. A burial of his urn will take place at a later date in Wilber Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for an educational fund for Case and Lillian Hobart. Brian shared this quote, which was his last poem to his Facebook page: "Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." –Stephen King.
