LAGRANGE — Betty E. Rhoades, age 93, of LaGrange died peacefully at her home on March 26, 2015. She was born on November 22, 1921, to Hiram and Bertha Rose. She was the last of four children born to Hiram and Bertha, being preceded in death by Dale Rose, Virginia Kurtz and Carl Rose. Betty graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and married Joseph Clarence Rhoades on June 14, 1947. Joe died in November 2001. She had three children, Dennis, Patricia and Darl. Dennis (1993) and Pat (2012) preceded her in death. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Darl and Susan of Littleton, Colorado, and their three children, Nathan and fiancée Amy Daniels, Phillip and wife Ariel and Jacquline, and husband Nic Duran, and a total of seven great-grandchildren; Dennis' daughter Dawn and her husband Tony Hayes, and two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; Dennis' son Jerrod and partner Linda Gundrum; and Pat's husband, Steve Hickey, and sons Jon, Jeff and his wife Angie, and three great-grandchildren, Chad and his wife Mindy, and three great-grandchildren, April and her husband Mike Burger, and one great-grandchild; and Steve Jr. and one great-grandchild. Betty and her family moved to LaGrange in 1964. She became a licensed real-estate salesperson and ultimately a broker and worked for Lewis and Lambright for approximately 30 years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange. The family will receive visitors at Carney Frost funeral home in LaGrange from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Forrest Van Gundy of the LaGrange Mt. Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
