Betty Petersen RACINE Betty (nee: Clausen) Petersen peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Hospice House surrounded by family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Betty was born on July 29, 1926 in Graethinger, Iowa, the daughter of the late James and Carla (nee: Anderson) Clausen. On May 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Eugene Petersen in Racine. Betty had been employed with the Zayre Corporation as a head cashier for 22 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her circle of friends at Lake Oaks. Surviving are her sons, Paul (Debra) Petersen of Aiken, S. Carolina, Mark (Ellen) Petersen of Racine, James Petersen of Northfield, IL; grandchildren, Robert Evinic, Kelsey Petersen and Collin Petersen. She is further survived by two great grandchildren; special niece, Karen Nielsen, other relatives and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene on December 16, 1991 and a sister, Evelyn Francis in November of 2001. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mullane and his staff for their dedication to helping patients and families navigate through life-challenging decisions. Your care and commitment to listening and following the wishes of our mother made her journey comfortable and peaceful.
