Betty LakinBetty Lakin, 78, died on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in Lafayette, IN. She was born on March 10, 1938 in Niles, Michigan to the late Victor and Anna (Wautry) Leggett.Betty married Albert LeRoy Lakin on May 11, 1957 in LaGrange, IN and he precedes her in death.She worked for the Lafayette Police Department for over 25 years serving as a school crossing guard. Betty loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.Betty is survived by her two children: Diana (Rodney) Dokey, of Niles, MI and Albert "Sam" (Teressa) Lakin of Lafayette, IN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michelle Roberts, Jerald (Joshlyn) Roberts, Chris Lakin, Andrea (Guy) Surprise, Brittney Lakin, Jordan Lakin, and Brooke Lakin, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son, John, a brother and a sister.Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral Care with an hour visitation prior to the service.
