Betty A. Mast, age 86, of Prescott, formerly of Jackson, died on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her residence. Betty was born on May 6, 1923, in Jackson to Carl J. Mast and Loneta A. (McFarland) Mast. She moved to Prescott in 1950. Betty worked as a telephone operator at the Prescott Telephone Office switchboard and later in Rose City at the Alltel office. She retired in 1988. Betty was a longtime member of Prescott Methodist Church, where she served as the secretary-treasurer. She was past Worthy Matron of the West Branch/Rose City Zion Rose Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Stars. Betty also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society of Skidway Lake. Betty is survived by her brother, Carl J. Mast Jr. (Gale) of Bay City. She was the beloved aunt of Debbie (Dennis) Provoast of Hale, Carla (Rob) Streeter of Hale and Bonnie (Todd) Dhyne of Sparta; and the dear friend of Charlene Knight (Larry Downey). Betty was the great aunt of Sabrina, Tad (Jess), Pepper (Monte), Trevor (Mendi), Bethany, Robbie (Melissa), Jeffrey (Julie) and Sara (Tyler). She is also survived by 10 great-great-nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jean Wallace. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m., at the Prescott chapel of Buresh-Bennett Funeral Home, 101 Harrison St., Prescott. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a service by the Eastern Stars on Friday at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery and a luncheon will follow at the Richland Township Hall. Memorials are suggested to the West Branch/Rose City Zion Rose Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars.
