Bernice S. Magalski, age 90, of Oscoda and formerly of Detroit died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at her home. She was born on Sept. 20, 1919, in Detroit to Andrew and Tillie Cleck (nee Wilock). During World War II, Bernice worked at an aircraft assembly plant during the "Rosie the Riveter days," filling the jobs that were normally held by men but left empty during war time. She later worked at RPI in Oscoda as an assembler for 17 years. Bernice loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, watching movies and was an avid nature lover who enjoyed her pets and bird watching. Bernice is survived by four sons and three daughters, Gerald Magalski of Joplin, Mo., Irene Lancour of Whitmore Lake, Tina (Bill) Roy of Oscoda, Richard (Judy) Magalski of Newark, Ohio, Andrea (Jim) Aites of Loveland, Colo., Gary (Debbie) Magalski of Oscoda and Andy (Lorena) Magalski of Oscoda; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Andy (Marie) Cleck of Livonia; and several nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in 1997; parents, Andrew and Tillie Cleck; and brother, Walter Cleck. Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 14, until the time of the funeral at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. The Rev. S. Joe Robertson officiated and interment followed in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
