His childhood was spent in the oil field camps of West Texas - Denver City, Hobbs and Wink.On April 9, 1951, he married Charlene Gann in Seaside, California while he was stationed at camp Pendleton in the Marines. They were happily married for 62 years, and lived in Robert Lee the last 40 years. He worked 32 years for Exxon, mostly in Big Spring and Robert Lee. He was proud that he served in the Korean War, and in his later years he wrote his memoirs of his days in that arena.Benny enjoyed spending time with his family and telling stories about his experiences, mostly ones that made everyone laugh. He enjoyed football season the most - he loved reminiscing about his days playing in high school at Hobbs and Wink, and was an avid fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. He cherished vacationing in Colorado and traveling with Charlene. Wherever he was, the day was not complete without at least one good nap. A really good day would include cake and ice cream. He is survived by a daughter, Kay Duff of San Angelo; a son and daughter-in-law, Mitt and LaJohnna Rogers of Rockwall, Texas; two granddaughters, Misty LaPane, and Kristal Monroe and her husband Kelby of Austin; two grandsons, Wesley Duff and his wife Janice of Denver, Colorado, and Dustin Rogers and his wife Erin of San Antonio; three great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
