Beatrice "Bea" Sprague FiskZANESVILLE: Beatrice "Bea" Sprague Fisk, 95, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2015, while a resident of the Primrose Retirement Community, in Zanesville, Ohio.Bea was born on June 30, 1920, in Otsego, Ohio, the daughter of C. Maynard and Vera (Abbott) Sprague. She graduated from Zanesville High School in 1938, attended Oberlin College, eventually receiving her Bachelor's degree from Muskingum College in 1942, and her Master's degree in music from The
Ohio State University in 1945. She went on to teach choir at Akron Central High School and serve as choral director. Her summers were spent attending choral workshops at Fred Waring camps as well as Westminster Choir College.After retiring from teaching Bea married William on August 1, 1962, and together they built a home near the Muskingum College campus in New Concord. She was a voracious reader, often reading an entire mystery novel in an evening. She also enjoyed singing, piano, musicals, cooking, canning, sewing, and was a very skilled bridge player. Bea was a lifelong member of Eastern Star and American Legion. She also belonged to the College Drive Presbyterian Church in New Concord and was active in numerous clubs/groups at Muskingum.Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Bouyer, of Natick, MA; and son, John (Kim) of Zanesville; her grandchildren, Emily, Christopher, and Thomas Peabody, and Khalea Bouyer, of Natick, Brittany (Matthew) Good, currently residing in Georgia, Zackory Ray of Zanesville; and great-granddaughter, Harper Good. Bea was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 4 to 8 pm at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11am at the College Drive Presbyterian Church, 2 W High St, New Concord, OH; friends and family are welcome to call at 10:30AM to prepare for services. Following services, interment will be held at the Muskingum University Columbarium. Rev. Anne Weirich will officiate.
