Barry Hileman Sr, was born on March 11th, 1951, in West Brownsville Pennsylvania to Raymond Earl and Sophie Lousie (Yearnt) Hileman. After living in Pennsylvania for a while Barry and his family moved to Suffern, New York. A little after Barry turned 18 in 1969, he joined the Navy where he spent the next 21 years dedicating his life to protecting the Constitution of the United States. In 1973 while stationed with what would become his brother-in-law, Barry met the love of his life Mary Gohr. Two years later Barry and Mary got married in April of 1975. Over the course of his Navy career Barry and Mary moved from Oak Harbor Washington to Ridgecrest California where they would finally settle and call their home. In July of 1976 Barry and Mary had their first child, Melissa Hileman who was born in Boise Idaho. Two years later, Barry and Mary a son who was born in Ridgecrest California, Barry Hileman Jr. In 1990, Barry retired from the Navy while he was stationed in Miramar California at the rank of Master Chief (E9). After Barry retired from the Navy, he worked many different jobs on China Lake Naval Air Station before becoming a federal civil service employee. Barry finally decided to call his working career over when he retired in 2017 and moved with Mary to Pahrump Nevada.
Barry was always doing something for someone else, he loved helping anyone who needed it and was always volunteering himself for something. This all started when Barry decided to take over as the secretary of the local bowling association in Ridgecrest. Barry served all the local bowlers for many years from 1992 until 2014. During this time Barry along with his daughter Melissa, would help teach the youth bowlers the fundamentals of bowling by running the youth leagues. All while helping kids learn how to bowl Barry went back to college and graduated in 1996 with his AS in Electronics Technology from Cerro Coso Community College. Helping youth bowlers learn how to bowl and running the local bowling association wasn’t enough for Barry so of course what does he do? He starts to volunteer at the local Eagles lodge, Ridgecrest Eagles Aerie 3243. In 2000, Barry was voted in as President where he would continue doing that until 2002 where he was then voted in as Secretary. Over the next 15 years Barry would continue to help organize fundraising events for the Aerie charities, cook dinners, and work on keeping the Eagles lodge running until he decided to retire in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sophie and father Raymond; his sister Caroline Wheatly; and his brother John Hileman.
