Barbara Van TilburgBarbara H. Van Tilburg, 89, of Midland Park, passed away on March 23, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.Barbara was born on October 17, 1927 in Port Chester, New York. She graduated from New York State College for Teachers at Albany in 1949. She taught ESL and GED preparation at the Passaic County Learning Center for 22 years retiring in 1993.On September 8, 1951, Barbara married her loving husband, Gerald C. Van Tilburg, who proceeded her in death. They were married one month shy of 65 years. She is survived by two daughters Carol Bonella and her husband, Joe, of Cumberland, MD and Janice Detz and her husband, Ronald, of Woodstock, GA and one son Gerrit Van Tilburg and his wife, Marianne, of State College, PA. In addition, there are seven grandchildren: Robert Lancaster and his wife Lindsay, Lynn Sipes and her husband Daren, Jonathan Lancaster, Dr. Neil Van Tilburg, Kristen Van Tilburg, Martyn Detz, Georg Detz, and three great-grandchildren.Barbara was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood for 59 years where she was as an elder, deacon, gracious greeter and Sunday school teacher. She was deeply devoted to the Woman's Guild and Presbyterian Women where she held leadership roles in both organizations for many years.A memorial service will be held on April 15th, at the First Presbyterian Church, at 11:00 A.M.
