Barbara J. Dohm, 80, of Hudson, FL, passed Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Barbara was born to Russell Zimmerman, and Alta Tigner, May 31, 1939 in Midland, Michigan. Barbara had 3 sisters. Phyllis Brown precedes her in death. Her living sisters are Pauline Bradshaw (Jerry Bradshaw) and Shirley Gillette (George Gillette, deceased).
Barbara grew up in Michigan and went to Muskegon Heights High School and received her GED. Barbara received an A.S. degree in nursing from Delta College in 1980. She met her late husband, Roy Dohm in 1959, and they lived together in Midland and Mt. Pleasant Michigan. They later relocated to Hudson, FL for Roy's retirement years. Barbara worked as an Registered Nurse at Regional Medical Center, Bayonet Point until she retired in 1997. She also volunteered and worked for the Gulfside Hospice after her formal retirement.
Barbara is survived by 3 of her 4 children: Terri Keeven (Michael Keeven), Ruby Merritt (deceased), Nancy Wyatt (Gary Wyatt (deceased)), and Russell Hull. She also is survived by 7 grandchildren: Barbie Simonson (Ken Simonson), Stacy Standiford (John Standiford), Jennifer Hutchinson (Jerome Hutchinson), Heather Carroll, Jill Wills (Dwayne Zittenfield), Maria Manuli, Elizabeth Pero (Shawn Manuli), 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She has many wonderful extended family, friends and former co-workers who were active in her life.
Barb loved to take adventures! From the earliest of times, she liked to take family vacations to new places, visiting tourist spots along the way. She enjoyed her nursing career and ended it by serving those who were leaving this world. She love spending time with her family, and was always ready to help babysit, drive children to their activities and head off on the next adventure.
She will be dearly missed by so many people. She was a constant in a sea of change. She always had a full refrigerator, a full heart, and a sage piece of advice if anyone needed it. Fly high dear Barbara! Fly high!
