Arthur “Artie” Christian,  a cherished  husband father brother uncle cousin and friend who peacefully left us on January 22, 2025, at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Born on October 16, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Artie was one of six children born to Arthur and Mildard Christian. He grew up in Cleveland Ohio, attended Cleveland Public Schools, and graduated from East High. 

Arthur was married in first union to Diane Christian in which five children were born to this marriage they forever remained friends. He later married Joyce Christian who proceeded him in death. The children blended will and many memories were made.

From a young age, Artie was determined to protect his family and friends, becoming a member of the Black Panthers. His passions included playing basketball, listening to music, singing, dancing, and playing cards. His professional journey was diverse, including working for the City of Cleveland Water Department and as a driver for the Greater Regional Transit Authority (RTA). 

Known for his loyalty, kindness, and generosity, Artie was the center of attraction at every gathering. He loved to dress up, don a cool hat, and was always ready with a joke or a smile, especially when surrounded by family. His love for music was only rivaled by the joy he found in creating cherished memories with those he loved. 

Artie was a passionate sports enthusiast who embraced life with enthusiasm, always eager to share laughter. He made it a point to attend family events, and his favorite hobby was playing scratch-offs, a pastime he cherished along with the gifts he received from loved ones. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred Christian, his wife Joyce Christian, his son Donte Talbert, and his siblings Joan Christian, June Chappell, Charles Chavers, and Wayne Christian.

Artie’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, including his surviving sibling Kent Christian and his children: Darren Christian (wife Ericka), Darren Hudson (wife Dabeiba), Dione Christian Bey, Arthur B. Christian II, Andre Christian (wife Tiajuana), Etoshia Jones, Mardell Christian, Nakia Clark, Willie Seldon Bey, Yolonda Christian (fiancé Kevin Wittingham), Marki Talbert(wife Shanae), Brandon and Bonus Daughter Recellanese Williams, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins. 

His legacy of love and laughter will always be cherished.
