Arline Elizabeth Ashley, age 95 years, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Bay City. She was born on March 6, 1921 in Unionville, the daughter of the late Iven and Evelyn (nee Ackerman) Heckroth. On Feb. 27, 1937, Arline and Merle "Snuffy" Ashley were married in Unionville.Arline was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church of Essexville and a life member of the Eastern Stars Charter of Sharon Chapter 20. She enjoyed traveling and spent many happy years at Ralph's Trailer Park in Zephyr Hills, Fla. She also enjoyed her hobbies of arts and crafts, fishing, playing cards, bingo, reading and especially her oil painting. Arline most of all, loved spending time with her family and friends.Surviving family include her grandchildren, Douglas (Kimberly) Howse of Tampa, Fla.and Shelly Howse of Herron; great-grandchildren, Bethany (Matthew) Adams of Lutz, Fla.and Kristen (Jason) Wolfe of Chesapeake, Va.; great-great-grandsons Braedon James and Carson Robert Wolfe; great-great-granddaughter Arbor Janette Adams; sister-in-law, Ciria Heckroth of Wallace, N.C.; a niece, Karolyn Trumble and family of Saginaw; a nephew, Gerald (Geraldine) Cordeer of Mesick; Nancy Howse of Oscoda; many friends at Riverwalk Apartments in Bay City; and many friends and caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living in Bay City. Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; daughter and son-in-law Janette (James) Howse; brothers, William and Lester Heckroth and a sister, Margaret Vansteenkiste.In accordance with Arline's wishes, cremation has taken place and no visitation or services are scheduled. Private interment will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
