Tony Biebel passed away on October 19, 2013 at North Ridge Alzheimer's Care Facility in Albuquerque, NM. His parents, Anthony Vincent Biebel and Margourite Dunlop Biebel and his wife, Ruth Biebel, preceded him in death.Tony was born on July 30, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was raised in Baltimore and enlisted in the Army in 1947. He met Ruth Mary Hickory and they were married on August 2, 1952. Ruth passed away on May 12, 2012. While in the Army, Tony was a member of the Army Military Police and the bomb and mine disposal division. During the Korean War he was a member of the 11th Airborne Division and fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from the Army in 1968 and moved with his family to Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he worked for Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in the weapons testing field. After being laid off from the Lab, Tony joined the Proforce as a security guard. He worked for many years as a guard and then rejoined the Laboratory for a few years until his final retirement.Tony was secretary for the 11th Airborne Division and was an active member of the Masons for many years. He spent his retirement enjoying his favorite hobby, playing golf.He is survived by his daughter, Sandra L. Hampton, Sandra's husband James, son John A. Biebel, and five grandchildren: Virginia R. Powell (Brian), Elizabeth A. Johnson, Marie L. Hanley (Chris), Joseph A. Johnson, and Jasmine Biebel. There are also six great-grandchildren: Dominic, Joseph, Alexis, Cody, Carina, and Michael. Also, his brother-in-law Frank Hickory and many nieces and nephews survive Tony.A Memorial Service will be held on November 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Los Alamos, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Outreach Ministry at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
