Anthony Smith, born on January 1, 1950, took his last breath on June 11, 2023, in Washington, D.C., leaving behind his beloved wife, Jade Smith, to whom he was married for over five decades.
Anthony was a remarkable man who lived his life to the fullest. He was born to Carlton and Theresa Smith, who were ecstatic when they welcomed their handsome son into the world. Anthony was always a loving son, and he made sure to keep in touch with his parents as often as possible.
After graduating from Eastern High School in 1968, Anthony found his calling in the automotive industry and began working at Henderson’s Automotive. He would spend hours tinkering with engines and fixing cars, earning him a reputation as one of the best mechanics in town. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and frequently offered his services for free.
Anthony also served in the US Army and climbed the ranks to Staff Sergeant. He completed his tour of duty with pride and honor, always putting his fellow soldiers' needs before his own.
Anthony's greatest joy in life was his family. He and Jade had one child together, Cathleen Benetton, whom he loved with his whole heart. Cathleen and her husband Joshua Benetton gave him three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye.
Anthony's zest for life was contagious, and he lived every day with a smile on his face. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which, despite his valiant efforts, ultimately took his life. We will always remember him for his infectious laughter, his love for cars, and his commitment to his family.
Rest in peace, Anthony Smith. You will be greatly missed.
