Anthony "Tony" Hudec, 74, of Hammond, IN, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. He was born on November 30, 1934, in East Chicago, IN, to John and Anna (Habovstak) Hudec, both deceased. Mr. Hudec was a retired Auto Mechanic with Paul Sur Pontiac. Anthony was enjoying his retirement as an avid golfer with his buddies at Wicker Park. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and attended OLPH and St. Thomas More Churches. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Anthony gracefully served as Best Man for his son's wedding to Cheryl on May 30, 2009. He is survived by his three loving children: Sandi (Michael) Serviss of DeMotte, IN, Caryn (fiance Paul Schweitzer) Hudec of Crown Point, IN, and Anthony J. (Cheryl) Hudec of DeMotte, IN; five grandchildren: Rachel Ballon, A.J., Michael and Marilyn Hudec, and Alyssa Serviss; one brother: Frank (Anita) Hudec of Munster, IN, several nieces and nephews; and in-laws: Joseph F. and Bernice (nee Janulis) Belovich of Dyer, IN. He was Godfather to his nephew, Joseph Anthony Belovich, and his niece, Cindy (nee Hudec) Hussey. Preceded in death by his precious wife of 27 years, Mary (nee Antonaitis) Hudec; his brother, John Hudec; and his sister, Sister Cecilia. A private Memorial Mass was held at St. Thomas More Church in Munster, IN, with burial of his cremains next to his dear wife at St. John Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
