GAY, Anna Hazel Anna Hazel Gay passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on November 20, 1924, in Barrow County, Georgia. Anna Hazel graduated from Monroe High School and soon after began nurses' training at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia. Answering the call to service during World War II, she joined the
Army and continued her training as a medical tech. At the end of the war, she was discharged and soon after married. Anna Hazel became a homemaker known for her cooking, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. After the death of her husband in 1960, she began working at Rich's Lenox Department Store in the boys' department where she worked for the next 23 years and eventually retired as an assistant manager. Anna Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Harold Jady Gay and by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Janice (Tom) Harris of Oakwood, her grandsons Chris (Janeen) Harris of Atlanta and Doug (Gail) Harris of Commerce, her great grandchildren Chloe Whitney-Harris and Henry Harris, her brother Bill Queen of Monroe, her sister Peggy Hardigree of Watkinsville, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 23, from 9:30 to 11:00am, a Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am in the chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, Atlanta.
