Andrew L. Wood, 86, of 1250 Voyles Road, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Wood was the son of the late H. Edgar Wood and Agnes Thrasher Wood. He is preceded in death by brothers, Shannon and Preston Wood. Mr. Wood was born on August 8, 1930. He graduated from Winterville High School and the University of Georgia. He married the love of his life, Fannie Simmons on August 15, 1953. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army from 195401956. He then worked for the Internal Revenue Service. Upon his retirement, he opened his own practice and enjoyed many years as a tax consultant. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Simmons Wood; his daughter, Rhonda (Ray) Whitfield; son, Randy (Jennifer) Wood; grandchildren, Stephen (Bree) Whitfield, Katherine Whitfield, Lexie Wood and Alex Wood; sister, Martha Holladay; brother, Hinton (Blue) Wood. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with George Lee and Philip Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
