WAIBEL, Alois (Lou) Lou passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016 in Victoria, B.C. Lou was born on January 1, 1936 in Waldstetten. They broke the mold when they let Lou into Canada. Lou arrived in Canada when he was 19 years old with a rucksack on his back, and managed to build a legacy. Lou and his wife Peggy started a Texaco station; then in 1969 he acquired Douglas Volkswagen. In 1984 he opened Victoria Hyundai, and quickly built it to be the #1 dealership in Western Canada. Lou opened Mayfair Saturn Saab Isuzu in 1988, which was his last franchise, until retiring in 1996. He was a successful business man, but more importantly he was a loving husband to Peggy and a father to Liz (Don), and JD (Kelly) and grandsons Jake and Tyler. He will be missed by his many sisters, nieces and nephews in Germany. Lou had friends all over the world in which he shared many adventures with from hunting on the prairies, fishing in the Queen Charlotte's, driving across Africa, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, or canoeing down the Yukon River. Lou was a great story teller and he had the adventures to go with them. Lou was one of a kind and if you were lucky to have known him, you were his friend. There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday November 7, 2016 at the Fireside Grill, 4509 West Saanich Rd, Victoria, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke foundation http://rthfoundation.org/donate/. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.mccallgardens.com.
